How To Reach 226 Fire Resistance for Molten Core Heat Level 3 - Season of Discovery

The addition of Heat levels to Molten Core in Season of Discovery came with the need for Fire Resistance gear. Players only aiming to clear Heat 1 won't need to worry about Fire Resistance, but at both Heat 2 and 3, you will struggle to survive without a decent chunk. On Heat 3 especially, players have found themselves being one-shot by almost every type of Fire damage that touches them.
On Heat 2, players are recommended to reach 96 Fire Resistance. On Heat 3, that number more than doubles going up to 226.
Reaching 96 Fire Resistance
This number is low enough for players to passively reach once they get a few pieces of Tier 1 and some other random bits and bobs. You can even get 60 Fire Resistance purely from the enchants

. This can be further supplemented with a Paladin or Shaman, with both

and

giving 60 Fire Resistance.
How to Obtain Fire Resistance Enchants
These buffs and enchants can be supplemented with easy-to-obtain gear like the

, part of the
Onyxia Attunement questline
. Every class also has its variant of the Dire Maul trinket,

Reaching 226 Fire Resistance
Reaching higher Fire Resistance will require you to sacrifice more other stats. This means that you might not be able to wear a perfectly optimized gear set for damage, but a dead player does zero DPS.
Right off the bat, we can assume players will have 60 Resistance from

. Add in both

and you're up to 120 already. This leaves us with 106 Fire Resistance left to find.
Tier 1 sets in Season of Discovery, such as

all have 61 Fire Resistance, bringing our total up to 181, meaning we're already almost capped. This of course is not a reasonable ask for players looking to head straight into Heat 3, and will require a few weeks of raiding already.

once you are Exalted gives a hefty 20 Fire Resistance, as well as an additional 50 from its Use: effect.

is also a decent option when you're just getting started, but Mail and Plate wearers may want to look toward more hefty options.

. These are easy to farm for yourself and you can stockpile as many as you need.

Finally, one of the most effective and deliberate ways to obtain Fire Resistance gear is through the

already provide a very high amount of Fire Resistance, but as of Phase 4, this gear can be exchanged with

for upgraded versions, such as

Combining all of these methods allows players a lot of flexibility in reaching 226 Fire Resistance. This will likely mean that for your first few runs at Heat 3, you will be sacrificing pure DPS items to make sure you reach the necessary resistance. This will even out as you collect more and more gear, especially if you manage to get your hands on a full 8-piece Tier set.
