Class Fantasy & Visuals: Fatebound (Winner)

Now, while I do think that Fatebound slightly edges out in the flavor with Outlaw being a gambler-type spec where the flipping of coins feels right at home, I want it to be clear that I think that all three hero talents for Rogue's feel highly disappointing in the visual department.

I understand that broadly speaking, Rogue in WoW has always been a low-fantasy aesthetic compared to some of the flashier classes, such as Demon Hunter or Paladin. Still, I can't help but look at the visuals for Fatebound and feel as though there's a real "wow factor" missing. While I love the visual of the small coins flying out of your character, it feels like a massive missed opportunity that Fine Profetica has no visual to go with it. The fact that coins don't fly out of my character when I finally "hit the jackpot" will always feel like a letdown.

Fun & Rewarding Gameplay: Fatebound (Winner)

Fatebound for sure feels like the best hero talent gameplay wise compared to Trickster, but that's almost exclusively because of how gross Trickster feels to play with.

Other than the fact that Destino Scritto gives you 5% more chance for Assalto Funesto to proc twice, it doesn't do much else. Since the core builder-spender rotation continues to feel fun and fluid to play, it means that we have a clear winner.

I'd argue that the Trickster hero talent actively makes the spec less enjoyable to play due to requiring Furia Omicida to be used while also having to deal with the odd GCD cadence of Colpo di Grazia.

Difficulty: Trickster (Winner)

Both of these hero talents have almost 0 rotational complexity associated with them so on that front, they are about the same. However, with Furia Omicida continuing to be a deathwish spell to use in hard content, I'd argue that having to make value judgments on whether or not casting Furia Omicida will kill you or not does add a fold of difficulty that most classes in the game never have to think about.

Colpo di Grazia also has a charge attached to it so making sure you don't accidentally charge directly into a ground degen you are trying to run away from similarly adds a very unique layer of difficulty to the spec.

Defensiveness & Utility: Fatebound & Trickster (Tie)

When speaking in the bigger picture, the utility of hero talents on offer is incredibly inconsequential. While talents like Insidioso for Trickster and Arrivo della Morte for Fatebound are both kinda neat, don't really do that much to move the needle one way or the other.

Sfida del Fato giving you a small shield is nice, and Specchi making Finta slightly better are both sort of helpful but feel relatively irrelevant. Both are making you "slightly tankier," and that's it.

Leveling: Fatebound (Winner)

Neither of our hero talents significantly increases damage, which makes me value the added mobility of Fatebound. Since Arrivo della Morte lets us fly around and use Rampino more, it should make leveling a smidge faster.

Mythic+: Fatebound (Winner)**

On paper Trickster should be better in dungeons almost exclusively off the back of the talent Raffica Lesta. Making Vortice di Lame cleave for an additional 20% damage is a huge increase.

However, that's only talking about on paper. Trickster has a bug that totally kills the viability of the tree, and that's the bug between Colpo di Grazia and Mira Infallibile. With the specs rotation being optimized around casting as many In Mezzo agli Occhi in your stealth windows as possible, the damage of Colpo di Grazia is very consistently doing 50% less damage than is listed on the tooltip, in addition to the 2x GCD, in addition to not working with any passives related to combo points.

If these quirks are fixed, Trickster would be the go to option, but until then, Fatebound remains the best.

Raid: Fatebound (Winner)

Fatebound should be the better choice for raid due to being currently tuned better. In addition, because Trickster requires you to take Furia Omicida, it may cause fundamental issues that will make this hero talent unusable in specific Mythic raid encounters.

Best Overall: Fatebound (Winner)

I think with the way that the current trees work Fatebound is the clear winner of the two. Despite the visuals feeling lacking and potentially being boring to people wanting a more active set of interactions from the hero talents, the fact that it doesn't actively make your rotation worse, like Trickster, will make the clear favorite for people playing the spec long term.
