With the release of Patch 9.2.5, the Mythic+ Cryptic Hero achievement has been changed and will now be awarded to the top 0.1% of all players on the region instead of the top players on each faction. AutomaticJak discusses the impact of this change depending on your previous faction and looks at the current breakpoint to get the title!
With the release of Patch 9.2.5, the Cryptic Hero achievement has been changed and will now be awarded to the top 0.1% of all players on the region instead of the top 0.1% of all players on each faction.
This change could make it easier or harder to accomplish based on your current faction, but is happening due to
cross faction dungeons coming with this Patch as well
!
End Shadowlands Mythic+ Season 3 with a Mythic+ Rating in the top 0.1% for your faction.of all players in your region.
Title Reward: Cryptic Hero
Impact and Mythic+ Score Calculation
Depending on your faction
before
the patch, you might have to work slightly harder in order to achieve this Account-wide title. For pre-patch Alliance mains, players would have to push harder to reach the newly-raised breakpoint for the title. Before the release of 9.2.5, the cutoff for Alliance
was
3450
but will instead be
3496
for all of the US.
In key terms
3450
is about all +24 keystones with a couple +25s mixed in.
If the season were to end at this point and you were at the previous cutoff of
3450
and you wanted to move up to
3496
, you would need to
increase the score of six of your dungeons by one level on one difficulty.
With the season cutoff
lowering
for the Horde, that means about ~100 additional players on Horde side are now eligible to receive the title, but there are also hundreds of players on Horde that are hovering around this cutoff and it will only get more competitive as the season continues over the summertime.
Since one of the easiest
Potenziamento
Mythic+ weeks has now concluded and a massive amount of players have swapped factions the above example is far more muddled now because of all the factions swaps. The important point, is that both factions are much closer together than they previously were with ample time for players to reach that coveted 0.1% breakpoint. Rather than a
~46
point difference between factions, the range has halved between factions to about 20 points and those long-time Alliance players now have far more opportunities to progress their Mythic+ score than ever before.
An Inevitable Change
This was a change that was bound to happen. If faction splits still existed, players would be choose their faction based on the rating cutoff instead of which faction has the racials they want, the guild they want to be in or the race they most identify with. With this change there is no "incentive" to switch factions for the score and there is no punishment for staying on one side or another.
In Season 2 for the
Tormented Hero
Title, there was a two-week heads up by Blizzard to let players know the latest that they could faction change to lock in their titles. This resulted in a slight, last minute increase to the cutoff for Alliance as Horde players swapped over to reach the easier breakpoint, potentially kicking some Ally players out of the running for the title. Now, everyone can play together and everyone will compete together.
Criticisms of this Title
As we are preparing for more information on Season 4 and the coming Dragonflight Expansion, now seems to be a good time to bring up the criticisms these "XYZ Hero" Titles have picked up since they were added in Season 2.
The idea has been tossed around repeatedly about making these titles based off of classes or specs rather than overall rating but the entire idea of this title is to reward the highest pushers which will always be about the meta. Just from the very nature of the Mythic+ meta (and the ease with which you can gear alts this season compared to others) you will naturally see minimal spec variety at the 0.1% level.
Discipline Priests and Mistweaver Monks for example, are among the lowest represented healers at the top levels of Mythic+. Both specs highest representatives are around the high end of
3600
score, while the highest Paladins, Holy Priests and Shamans are 200-300 points higher, a difference of up to
2-3 key levels
across
10 dungeons
on both Fortified and Tyrannical.
While pushing for this title might require rerolling to whatever is Flavor of the Month, it is always worth remembering that this "Hero" title is for the players completing keystones higher than their peers, no different than PvPers using Flavor Of The Month compositions in a certain season to hit Gladiator. It is also worth noting that this Hero title is Account-wide, allowing for any character on your account to utilize it after it is earned. Happy Key-ing!
